Does your statement answer these fundamental questions?

Does it:

	Help your client understand his or her financial positions?
	Show Performance against a benchmark?
	Display a summary of related accounts?
	Present a pie chart or use highlight color?
	Cause the customer to invest more with you?

Or does it:

	Cause a client to call their broker for help deciphering the information?
	Show some but not all accounts?
	Handle performance in a patchwork way?

If you answered Yes to the first four questions above, your statement is doing a fine job of keeping your client informed and happy with your services.

However, if you answered yes to any of the final three questions, then your statement is due for an update. The extent of the redesign depends on how many no's you had to the first five questions and how many yes's to the last three questions.
